Acclaimed actress Saranya Ponvannan starrer Gangster Granny is an upcoming Telugu crime thriller, directed by Vishnu Ramakrishnan.
The film marks the directorial debut of the director, who earlier handled the cinematography in Prabhu Deva and Mamta Mohandas starrer Tamil horror movie Oomai Vizhigal, yet to be released film.
His directorial debut film, too, is awaiting for a release, which features 2003 Tamil romantic comedy Thiruda Thirudi fame Chaya Singh as the female lead.
The story as well as screenplay is written by AK while Anish Krishna has handled the cinematography in the film while blockbuster producer of 2014 Telugu blockbuster Karthikeya Srinivas has produced it.
Gangster Granny Star Cast
The film will feature popular actress Saranya Ponvannan in the female lead role. We often see her playing the role of a mother in many movies- including her recent release, featuring megastar Suriya’s Etharkkum Thunindhavan. In fact, she is the first choice for the role of a mother for many filmmakers.
Apart from Tamil films, the actress also worked in a few Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films and now all set to make her debut in Hindi films this year with R. Balki’s directorial anthology titled Chup: Revenge of the Artist.
In addition to this, the actress also has two more Tamil films; Kallapart and Idi Muzhakkam in the pipeline for this year’s release.
However, we will witness the actress in a never-seen-before role of a gangster in the upcoming movie, which is set against Chennai and revolves around the actress’s character who had stopped indulging in violence.
The film will also star 2015 sports drama Valliman fame Amzath Khan in a role of a police officer. The actress previously starred in movies such as Maya, Natpathigaram 79, Kalam, Rum, Igloo, Kaithi etc. It will also star Raaj Varma as an antagonist.
Gangster Granny First Look Out
On Friday, March 25, 2022 the makers released the title with the intriguing first look of this most-awaited crime thriller drama film in which Saranya is showcased in a fresh and different look of a gangster confidently wielding a long, automatic gun with a fierce look in her eyes.
The first look poster was shared by Tamil actor Jiva on his social media on his social media, in which he wrote”#SaranyaPonvannan is back with a bang. This time not as an ordinary, but an extraordinary #GangsterGranny.”

Reportedly, the actress also performed some action sequences in the film with lot of ease. The actress will be featured in a typical gangster mannerism in the film.
