Vetri Duraisamy, the director of the Tamil movie ‘Endraavathu Oru Naal’, has been missing since February 4th. His body was found in the Sutlej River nine days after the car he was traveling in plunged into the river in Kinnaur district.
While one of the passengers, Gopinath, was rescued and is receiving treatment, the car driver, Tenzin, was found dead. Former Chennai mayor Saidai Duraisamy had offered a reward of Rs 1 crore for any information about his son Vetri Duraisamy’s whereabouts.
Vetri’s body was discovered on Monday by a team of divers from the Mahin Nag Association, approximately 3 km from the accident site. After a postmortem at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGCMH) in Shimla, the body was handed over to the family.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his condolences to Saidai Duraisamy, acknowledging the tragic loss no father should ever have to endure.
Who was Vetri Duraisamy?
Vetri Duraisamy, the son of former Chennai mayor Saidai Duraisamy and director of Endravaathu Oru Naal, was not only a filmmaker but also a wildlife photographer, known for his collection of rare and exotic birds in Chennai, his Instagram is filled with wildlife photography posts.
He attended St. Bede’s Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai for his high school education. Later, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Loyola College and completed his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Madras.

Vetri Duraisamy was born in 1979 in Chennai to Saidai Duraisamy, a prominent figure in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party and a former Mayor of Chennai, and Mallika, his mother.
