Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a big announcement after the opening of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. On January 22, Prime Minister Modi revealed that the central government is starting a new initiative called the Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana.
The Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana aims to generate electricity through solar energy. PM took to Twitter (X) and shared a series of pictures with the caption, “Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana” with the target of installing rooftop solar on 1 crore houses. This will not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class but will also make India self-reliant in the energy sector.”
What is Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana?
Prime Minister Modi’s residence is located near Lok Kalyan Marg, where the government hopes to put rooftop solar on one crore residences as part of the Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana. With solar rooftop installations, the Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana seeks to supply low- and middle-class people with electricity while also providing supplementary revenue for excess electricity generated.
Additionally, the prime minister ordered the launch of a big nationwide campaign aimed at encouraging residential customers to switch to rooftop solar in significant numbers. Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that any home with a roof may use solar power to lower their electricity costs and become fully Aatmanirbhar for their energy needs.
Eligibility for Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana
Presently, the government of India has not revealed many details regarding the schemes. The basic eligibility criteria to apply for the Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana is that the beneficiary should be a citizen of India. The beneficiaries of the Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana must not be involved in any government services. Also, the beneficiary should not have an annual income that exceeds Rs 1 or 1.5 lakh.
