After days of searching, the Punjab Police have finally arrested the suspect, Amritpal Singh. As per the Punjab Police’s statement, Amritpal Singh surrendered at a gurdwara in Rode village in Moga district. Several pictures of Separatist Amritpal’s arrest are being widely shared on social media.
According to police, separatist Amritpal Singh was taken to Dibrugarh jail because the North Indian jails are more likely to have gangsters associated with him and Dibrugarh jail is a very secure prison.

The Punjab Police increased patrols across the region ahead of the Baisakhi celebrations, on reports that Amritpal Singh was set to surrender. The arrest of Papalpreet is being seen as a sign that the police department has reached Amritpal Singh, who is said to be hiding in Punjab.
According to recent reports, Amritpal Singh sought refuge at a religious organization, but DGP Yadav stressed that religious institutions should not be used for personal advantage. “Religious sites should not be abused,” said GDP Yadav.
The Punjab police have recovered the motorcycle on which Waris Punjab De chief, Amritpal Singh fled on Saturday from the Jalandhar Cantonment area. Also, the Punjab Police are questioning Amritpal Singh’s mother and wife, Kiran Deep.
According to some reports, Kiran Deep is a Babbar Khalsa International supporter, and she was allegedly arrested in 2020 for raising funds for a pro-Khalistani organisation.

Harjeet Singh, uncle of ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh, was brought to the Central Jail in Dibrugarh, Assam. The Punjab police have invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against the five arrested aides of Amritpal Singh.

The police are also likely to invoke the NSA against Khalistani leader Amritpal after his arrest. Police even have a ‘strong suspicion’ of the role of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency and foreign funding.
So far, six criminal cases against Amritpal and his aides have been registered to date. Even after so many search operations, Punjab Police is unable to find Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh. There are chances that by now he might have flown to some other country or state.
According to updates, the Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed BSF (Border Security Forces) and SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) to be on high alert in border areas because Amritpal Singh Sandhu could cross the international border in Punjab or via the India-Nepal border.
Amritpal and seven of his companions were arrested under the Arms Act on Sunday after Punjab Police recovered six 12-bore rifles and 196 cartridges from them. As per SSP Satinder Singh, over 100 illegal cartridges were confiscated from an Amritpal associate.
Who is Amritpal Singh?
Amritpal Singh Sandhu was born on January 17, 1993, in Jallpur Khera, Amritsar. His father’s name is Tarsem Singh Sandhu, and his mother’s name is Balwinder Sandhu. Amritpal Singh has two sisters and one brother.

After a few days, a grand celebration for Amritpal’s dastarbandi (turban-wearing) ceremony was held in Rode, the ancestral village of militant late Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
After the Dastarbandi ceremony, Amritpal Singh started dressing himself as Bhindranwale. He started donning a long white kurta over short loose pants, a blue turban, a Kirpan, and carrying a silver arrow or a weapon interchangeably.

The extremist Amritpal Singh Sandhu started getting attention when he declared himself the leader of the organisation, “Waris Panjab De.” This organisation was founded by Deep Sidhu to fight for social justice and preserve the rights and culture of Punjab.
