The 48-year-old politician Bhagwant Mann to take the oath of Chief Minister of Punjab today. Bhagwant is a Member of Parliament (MP) of Lok Sabha from 2014. In 2014, he was the 1st MP from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann became the MP from Sangrur Constituency in 2014. On 18 January 2022, he was chosen as the Chief Minister Face of Punjab from the Aam Aadmi Party for the Punjab Legislative Assembly Election 2022.
Bhagwant Mann Birth
Bhagwant Mann was born in a Jat Sikh family on 17 October 1973 to father Mohinder and mother Harpal Kaur in Satoj village of Sangrur district, Punjab. He graduated from Shaheed Udham Singh Government College in Sunam.
He got married to Smt. Inderpreet Kaur. Mann has two children. In 2015, they both got separate Bhagwant Mann with his wife Smt. Inderpreet Kaur.
Comedian to CM of Punjab
In his early days, Mann used to participate in youth comedy festivals and inter-college competitions. He won two gold medals at a competition at the Punjab University. He developed his comedy routines about typical Indian issues such as politics, business, and sports.
He was a famous comedian during the struggle days. Mann’s 1st comedy album was with Jagtar Jaggi. Later on, they made a television program called Jugnu Kehnda Hai for ETC Punjabi. Then he formed a comedy partnership with Rana Ranbir.
Later on, they made a television program, Jugnu Mast Mast for ETC Punjabi. Then they both reunited and toured Canada and England with their shows, No Life With Wife. In 2008, Mann participated in the “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” on Star Plus which rapidly increased his audience.
He also acted in National Award-winning Film ” Main Maa Punjab Dee” , which was Directed by Balwant Dullat. Mann also acted in Jugnu Hazir Hai on MH One.
Bhagwant Mann Political Career
Mann’s political career started with People’s Party of Punjab in 2011. Under the party leadership, he unsuccessfully contested the election in the Lehra Constituency in 2012.
A game moment came in March 2014. When he joined the Aam Aadmi Party to contest election in the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency. He won the Lok Sabha with 211,721 votes. In 2017, he contested the Punjab Assembly Election 2017, in Jalalabad against Sukhbir Singh Badal and Ravneet Singh. He lost that election to Badal by 18,500 votes.
Achievements of Bhagwant Mann
Bhagwant Mann won two gold medals in his starting journey, from Punjab University and Patiala for Shaheed Udham Singh Government, Suman. He is successfully running an NGO “Lok Lehar Foundation ” to help kids with physical deformities as a result of pollution of groundwater in the border areas of Punjab.
After a sweeping victory in Punjab Assembly Election 2022, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s Bhagwant Mann is set to become Punjab’s next chief minister. Bhagwant Mann is set to deliver AAP’s first win in Punjab and its entry as a national party in the Indian political landscape.

Bhagwant Mann Controversies
During a party rally at Barnala, Mann said that he had denounced alcohol and swore never to touch it again, after being criticized for his drinking.
Mann had called a press conference in 2014, to highlight the plight of Punjabis stranded in Iraq. But a video of Mann’s “strange behavior”– breaking down and getting into the boot of his car.
In 2015, he filed for divorce. He took to Facebook and said that he was leaving his wife to serve Punjab. Inderjit Kaur, the wife of Mann who had stood by him like a rock through his tumultuous political journey, returned to Australia where Mann had settled down before joining politics in 2011.
